News today is that the National Solar Schools Program has been officially re-opened for applications from August 1st 2011.
“Primary and secondary schools across Australia can now apply for funding with the 2011-12 application round opening on 1 August 2011,” said Parliamentary Secretary for Climate Change and Energy Efficiency, Mark Dreyfus.
Grant funding totalling $25.04 million is available to schools in the 2011-12 period, which equates to around 5MW at $5W average selling price. Applications for up to $50,ooo per school are available for a variety of measures including PV.
Despite its merits, anyone want to place a bet on how long this scheme will last? My guess, the 5MW target (assuming it’s measured by applications) will be reached within 8-12 weeks, then the program will be stopped while deployment takes place.
